Privacy Policy
Effective date: 25 June 2026 Last updated: 25 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how WeCollect Group, LLC ("WeCollect," "we," "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the WeCollect website and web application at getwecollect.com (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to this Policy. It should be read together with our Terms of Service.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide:
- Account: email address and a password (handled by Google Firebase Authentication; we never store your password), and the display name and handle you choose.
- Profile: optional avatar and banner images, favorites, collector goals, social links, and similar profile details.
- Collection data: the cards, binders, graded ("Vault") cases, and sealed products you track, including conditions, quantities, and notes.
- Social content: friends/following lists, posts, comments, direct messages, team and challenge participation, trades, and Card Claims.
- Imports: data from files you choose to import (e.g., a collection CSV exported from another app).
- Support communications: information you include when you email support or submit a bug report (which may include your app version and device/browser details).
Information collected automatically:
- Usage and presence: activity such as your last-active time (used to show online status to friends), feature usage, and basic technical/diagnostic data.
- Device/local storage: we use your browser's local storage and similar technologies to keep you signed in, cache catalog and pricing data, and remember preferences.
Camera and the card scanner:
- The scanner uses your device camera. Image processing (card recognition) runs on your device. We do not collect scanned images by default.
- Opt-in only: if you enable "Help Improve Card Scanning," anonymized scan images and corrections may be shared with us to improve scanner accuracy. This is off by default and you can turn it off at any time in Settings.
Payment information:
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number. We store limited billing/subscription information such as your subscription status, plan, and a Stripe customer/subscription identifier.
2. How we use information
We use information to:
- Provide, operate, maintain, and secure the Service and your account;
- Power social features (profiles, friends, messaging, posts, teams, challenges, trades, Card Claims);
- Process payments, subscriptions, and virtual-currency ("Shards") purchases;
- Moderate content and enforce our Terms (including automated and AI-assisted review of names and posts);
- Provide customer support and respond to your requests;
- Improve the Service, including (with your opt-in) the card scanner;
- Send service-related communications and, where permitted, occasional product updates;
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues;
- Comply with legal obligations.
3. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as follows:
With other users (per your settings): Your public profile, display name, handle, and posts/social activity are visible to other users according to your privacy settings. You control whether your profile, collection value, binders, graded, and sealed are shown publicly, and whether you accept friend requests. Direct messages are visible to the recipient.
With service providers / subprocessors that help us run the Service:
- Google Firebase (Google LLC): hosting, database (Firestore), and authentication.
- Stripe: payment processing.
- Scrydex: trading-card catalog, pricing, and population data (we send card identifiers, not your personal information).
- eBay: market price/sales data (via eBay's API and affiliate program).
- OpenAI: automated moderation of public post text to keep the community safe (post text may be sent for classification).
- Discord: delivery of official WeCollect announcements to our community server (staff-authored news only; not your personal content).
- Affiliate networks / retailers (e.g., eBay Partner Network, VaultX): when you click an affiliate link, the retailer may receive standard click/referral data; we do not share your account profile with them.
For legal and safety reasons: to comply with law, enforce our Terms, or protect the rights, property, or safety of WeCollect, our users, or others.
Business transfers: if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.
4. Public vs. private information
You choose what is public. By default your profile may be public; you can adjust visibility in Profile → Settings → Privacy (profile public/private, show collection value, show binders/graded/sealed, allow friend requests). Content you post publicly (e.g., feed posts, public profile, team/challenge names) can be seen, copied, or re-shared by others. Please use discretion in what you make public.
5. Data retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Some records (e.g., moderation logs, transaction records) may be retained longer where required or permitted by law. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where retention is legally required.
6. Your rights and choices
- Access and update: view and edit your profile and collection in the app at any time.
- Export: export your binders, graded, and sealed data as CSV from Settings.
- Delete: delete your account from Profile → Settings → Delete Account.
- Privacy controls: adjust profile visibility and friend-request settings in Settings.
- Scanner contribution: opt out of scan-image contribution at any time in Settings.
- Marketing: you can opt out of non-essential product communications.
- Regional rights: depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing of your personal information, or to object or withdraw consent (GDPR), and rights to know/delete/opt-out and non-discrimination (CCPA/CPRA). To exercise these, contact us at support@getwecollect.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
7. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls via Firebase security rules. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Protect your account by using a strong, unique password.
8. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, contact support@getwecollect.com and we will delete it.
9. International users and data transfers
We operate the Service from the United States and use providers (such as Google and Stripe) that may process and store data in the United States and other countries. By using the Service, you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in countries whose data-protection laws differ from yours.
10. Cookies and local storage
We use cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in, cache catalog/pricing data for performance, and remember your preferences. We do not use them for cross-site advertising. You can clear local storage and cookies through your browser, though doing so may affect functionality (e.g., you may be signed out).
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide reasonable notice (for example, in-app or by email) and update the "Last updated" date above.
